Sapphire Treatment & Certification
A certificate is an important part of a gemstone dossier, but it is not a substitute for seeing the stone. A sound decision combines independent identification with honest visual evidence and precise disclosure.
What treatment disclosure means
Treatment describes processes used to alter a gemstone's appearance. Heat treatment is widely accepted in the sapphire market when disclosed. Other treatments require particular care and may affect value, durability and resale confidence.
What a laboratory report can establish
Depending on the laboratory and service, a report may identify the gemstone, record weight and dimensions, describe detectable treatment and offer an origin opinion. The report number and issuing laboratory should be verifiable.
What a report cannot decide
A laboratory report does not decide whether you love the colour, whether the cut feels alive in daylight or whether the proportions suit a particular setting. Those remain visual and personal decisions.

Does certified mean untreated?
No. A report may identify a natural sapphire and separately state whether indications of treatment were detected.
Is an unheated sapphire always better?
Unheated stones can be rarer, but beauty, cut, documentation, price and suitability should be considered together.
